Description

 

This product is a compound preparation, white tablets.

 

Indications

 

It can be used to the following infections induced by susceptible bacteria:

1.     Urinary tract infection induced by Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, proteus mirabilis, proteus vulgaris, morgan species.

2.     Acute otitis media of infants over 2-year old induced by streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae.

3.     Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis of adults induced by streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae.

4.     Intestinal tract infections, Shigella infection induced by Shigella flexneri or Shigella sonnei.

5.     Pneumocystic carinii pneumonia, first choice.

6.     Prevention of pneumocystic carinii pneumonia, to treat the patients who have one attack, or the HIV adults, whose CD4 lymphocyte count ≤ 200/mm3 or less than 20% of the total lymphocyte count.

7.     Diarrhea of tourists induced by enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli.

 

Usage and Dosage

 

1.     Adults: to treat bacterial infections, 160 mg of trimethoprim and 800 mg of sulfamethoxazole each time, administer once every 12 hours. To treat pneumocystic carinii pneumonia, take trimethoprim 3.75-5 mg/kg body weight each time, sulfamethoxazole 18.75-25 mg/kg body weight, once every 6hours. Preventive drugs for adults: firstly take 160 mg of trimethoprim and 800 mg of sulfamethoxazole, twice a day, then take once every day with the same dose, or three times every week.

2.     Infants: forbidden in use of infants below 2 months old. When in treatment of bacterial infections, the infants over 2 months old with body weight over 40 kg oral administer 20-30 mg/kg SMZ and 4-6 mg/kg TMP each time, once every 12 hours; the infants with over 40kg body weight should take the dose same with adults. When in treatment of parasitic infection, such as pneumocystic carinii pneumonia, administer SMZ 18.75-25 mg/kg body weight and TMP 3.75-5mg/kg body weight each time, once every 6hours. The course of acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis is at least 10-14 days; 7-10 days for urinary tract infection; 5-7 days for bacillary dysentery; 10 days for acute otitis media of children; 14-21 days for Pneumocystic carinii pneumonia.

 

Strength

 

Each tablet contains 0.4 g of sulfamethoxazole and 80 mg of trimethoprim.
