【Description】

White or slight white crystals or powder, odourless.

【Indications】

For the treatment of pneumonia, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract, meningitis, septicemia, intra-abdominal infections, pelvic infections, skin and soft tissue infections, reproductive tract infections, bone and joint infections caused by sensitive pathogens. This product is also the alternative medicine for infantile meningitis.

【Usage and Dosage】

Adults: 2-6 g daily, divided in 2-3 times, IV injection or drip; for heavy infection patients, 2-3 g every 6-8hours, the maximum dose one day not exceeding 12 g. when in treatment of meningitis, the dose can be increased to 75 mg/kg every 6hours, IV administration.

The patients with serious renal failure should reduce the dose. When the patient’s serum creatinine beyond 424μmol/L (4.8 mg) or the creatinine clearance rate lower than 20 mg/min, the product maintenance dose should be reduced half; when the serum creatinine beyond 751μmol/L (8.5 mg), the maintenance dose should be 1/4 of the normal quantity. The patients who need hemodialysis, 0.5-2 g daily, after hemodialysis, one dose should be added.
